Welcome!
Welcome to Jay Lund's Dam Web Page. His real, and more professional,
web page is located here.
This one is just for fun and education.
California is blessed and cursed with over a thousand sizable dams.
For civil and environmental engineers, these dams are both marvels of engineering
technique and challenges to contemporary engineers who must modify, adapt,
and occasionally remove them so they fit better with contemporary economic,
social, and environmental concerns.
This set of pages has several purposes:
-
1. To display the accomplishments of the UC Davis undergraduates who have
worked on these pages in various capacities. (Students are listed
under pages they have contributed to and I've tried to assemble a master
list.)
-
2. An excuse for students to have some fun, learn about dams and civil
engineering, web pages, and communications simultaneously.
-
3. To provide both educational information and some basic project-specific
information on dams in California, and dams in general.
-
4. To facilitate educational field trips and "vacations," both for engineers
and others (See Voyages of the Dammed).
